Every year, the National Stationery Show brings out the crazy. It’s an industry fact.

We’ve been pretty darn busy in the print shop over the last couple months. March and April were chock full with wedding invitations and we are just now scrabbling to generate some new product for the show (which is, ahem, next week). With a fairly elaborate wedding set still left to print before we fly on Thursday, the window is closing fast and Manny can only chug so fast.

So here’s my big crazy for this year – I decided we needed some new and improved business cards for the show (not too crazy) but I also decided that they needed to be 2 over 2 with a die cut and a full flood on the back. And in order to have a good stash for the future, we decided we needed 900 cards per name. Needless to say, this has put quite a damper on product output. But really, who will buy our goods if we don’t have a killer b-card to back it up?

Happy spring everybody, I look forward to sharing more (and sleeping) after the show!

It’s tough for some people to even think about baby announcements once their little one has arrived. Sometimes parents of newborns are so sleep-deprived and strapped for cash that this sweet tradition can fall through the cracks. So, 6 months after the birth of their newest family member Margot, this Boulder family decided to get creative and announce her arrival as a holiday card. Since her full name means “Daisy”, we used a blind impression to sprinkle delicate daisies around the page. They ended up looking a lot like snowflakes which made for the perfect union of the two festive occasions. Welcome Margot!

Whatcha doin’ this weekend, Boulder? Your answer should be holiday shopping. And if that is in fact your answer, there is no reason you shouldn’t check out the Open Studios Holiday Market! We were uber excited to be asked to apply for the first annual juried market hosted by Open Studios. Over 40 artists are displaying their amazing handmade wares in the 29th Street Shopping district. The market opened last weekend with a packed wine and cheese opening and runs through tomorrow, Sunday the 13th. Hope to see you there!

Wow, am I the worst blogger ever, or what? It’s been over 2 months since my last confession, I mean blog entry. It has also been over a month since the SLP birthday party which I meant to tell you about ages ago. Sigh. Better late then never, right?

Well, it was just over two years ago that we booked our first really real letterpress job. So on October 23rd, we celebrated turning 2 with an open studio event. It was a lot of work getting the studio into “party mode” but it was well worth it! We had a stroll down memory lane as we pulled out samples of past jobs and strung them up around the room. We installed fresh track lighting and had beautiful fresh flowers from our friends and neighbors Brighter Day Floral. I was especially proud to be wearing a hand-painted SLP shirt, created by our talented friend Summer, of Summer House Studios as well as an amazing corsage sent by the sweet peeps at Wordshop in Denver.

Matthew had the press running and each guest left with a commemorative “Happy Birthday” card. The guests did some early holiday shopping and we gave away a bunch of prizes including a portrait package from fabulous photographer Maureen Sullivan (Sullivan Studios), another neighbor from the Nobo hood. The playlist was just right and there was carrot cake for all. What more could you ask for?
